i4000 RaycoWylie Crane Wind Speed Display

The i4000 wind speed display is a computerized system designed to provide the operator with the necessary information to operate the crane safely, and within the nominal speed limits authorized by the crane manufacturer.

Designed to work in conjunction with the RaycoWylie LoRA Wind Speed Sensor / Anemometer available HERE

The system’s display unit provides the operator continuous information regarding the real time wind speed. It also warns the operator whenever he approaches or exceeds the maximum speed limit. The system supports one or two wind speed sensor(s). The system display is located inside the cabin, close to the operator controls for easy access to the information. All sensors are communicating through a wireless protocol to the i4000 display.

The maximum speed limit is evaluated by the crane manufacturer, the operator can then set the allowed limit using the i4000 menus.

It is possible to display the limit using one of the following units :

Kilometers per hour.
Miles per hour
Feets per second
meters per second
Knots

There are two different modes used for displaying the speed limit, there is the wind speed mode and the wind gust mode. The wind speed mode displays the average wind speed of the last three seconds while the gust speed mode shows the highest speed captured in the last five minutes. It is possible to have a limit for each mode simultaneously.

While in the wind speed mode, the system measures the speed for three seconds and then calculate the average speed. In order for the indicator to send a new value to the display, at least one of these conditions must be met :

The wind is higher than 2km/h from the last sent value.
The wind is less than 4km/h from the previously sent value.
The wind does not change (between +2 and -4km/h from the last sent value) during 80 seconds.

It is also possible to get an event recorder by accessing the calibration mode.
